What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from March 2025. ERO found outcomes improving for a majority of students: a majority, including Māori students, achieve at or above expected curriculum levels in reading, writing and maths, and targeted support is in place for groups below those levels.

A large majority attend regularly and the school is moving towards the government’s attendance target. Students feel they belong and take pride in their school, leaders work together on fairer outcomes and give staff relevant professional learning and coaching, and teaching is inclusive and builds knowledge and skills with purpose.

The agreed next steps are to lift results in reading, writing and maths by making better use of achievement information, give whānau Māori regular chances to share their aspirations and hear about the curriculum to inform planning, and keep strengthening the systems that track and improve regular attendance.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, and the school meets with families before a child starts and asks for proof of address.

Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places, using a separate application form. The school publishes its out-of-zone ballot dates on its enrolment zone page.

Children about to start school are encouraged to attend the school’s Kickstart sessions for several weeks beforehand, followed by school visits with an adult.
