Waterfalls worth chasing around Rotorua.
The Rotorua district has several waterfalls worth seeking out, most free to visit and reached by short bush walks. Tarawera Falls is the largest, a dramatic drop into a gorge near Lake Tarawera via a 90-minute return walk, while Tutea Falls drops 7 metres into the Kaituna River near Okere Falls. Most memorable is Kerosene Creek, a geothermal hot waterfall where the water runs warm year-round, one of the few natural hot waterfalls you can swim in.
