What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from September 2026. ERO rated the school as excelling in mathematics, where almost all students meet or exceed expectations for their year level, and doing well in every other area except attendance.

Most students meet expectations in reading and a large majority do in writing, most make expected progress, and results are equitable across groups of learners.

ERO described a teaching principal who works with staff on well-focused planning, a local curriculum that weaves in mātauranga Māori and local history alongside structured literacy and mathematics, and an engaged board. Attendance was the weaker area: a small majority of students attend regularly, though this is improving, and reading for younger learners remains an area to lift.

ERO’s recommended next steps are to raise regular attendance to meet the Government target, speed up progress in writing for students below and above expected levels, build measurable student outcome measures into planning, and align teaching and assessment with the updated English and mathematics curriculum.
