What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from June 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well teaching maths in a culturally responsive way lifts outcomes for boys, after the school’s data showed a need to raise boys’ maths achievement, particularly for Māori boys.

ERO noted leadership that puts professional growth first and seeks the right support, knowledgeable teachers focused on equity, and a caring, well-resourced learning environment.

Next, the school plans to review how maths is taught and learned and turn that review into an action plan, build learning partnerships with local iwi, and make sure ākonga Māori and their whānau feel welcome and see their place as tangata whenua reflected across the school.
