These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.

What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from March 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well the local curriculum and culturally responsive teaching lift fair and strong outcomes for students in both the English-medium and rumaki classes, with consistent teaching and assessment and good attendance as goals.

ERO pointed to a school culture of care and connection that supports students’ identity and belonging, staff who work together on improving outcomes, established systems for evaluating and improving, and access to expert help with culturally responsive teaching.

Next, the school will focus on professional learning so teachers use sound information to respond to students’ needs, embedding its refreshed local curriculum, keeping wellbeing and relationships with whānau and the community at the centre, and building te reo and tikanga Māori across the school.
