About Te Aka Mauri
Te Aka Mauri opened in February 2018 as the new home for Rotorua Library and the Children’s Health Hub. The four-storey building stretches between Haupapa Street and Arawa Street in the heart of the CBD, providing a modern, welcoming space designed to support community wellbeing, learning and connection.
The library maintains a broad collection of physical items including books, magazines, DVDs and reference materials, alongside digital resources such as eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines accessible to members. Free membership is available to Rotorua residents, with options for visitors. Free WiFi and public computer terminals are open to anyone, supporting both locals and travellers needing connectivity for work or study.
Programmes run regularly for all ages. Children and young people can attend Code Club sessions focused on digital skills, STEAM activities covering science, technology, engineering, arts and maths, Young Engineers workshops and preschool literacy programmes.
