The Collection

The collection spans artefacts from ancient Egypt, the Levant, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome — the civilisations that form the backdrop of Biblical history. More than 70 items are on display, ranging from pottery and lamps typical of everyday life in ancient Judea to Roman-era objects. The museum also holds replica items that visitors can handle: a replica Roman helmet is available to try on, and tactile displays are designed to make the ancient world accessible for younger visitors as well as adults.

The displays are organised to explain the material culture of the ancient world in which Biblical events took place — not as religious advocacy, but as historical and archaeological interpretation. Explanatory panels accompany each exhibit and are designed to be informative for visitors with or without a religious background.

For Families and School Groups

The Discovery Centre component of the museum is geared toward younger visitors and school groups, with interactive elements and hands-on displays. The museum welcomes school visits; contact the museum in advance for group booking and to discuss educational programmes.
