What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from February 2026. ERO found the school is still working towards strong success and progress for every learner.

Since its previous report it has put structured literacy in place across the school, strengthened planning, and given target groups and students with additional needs focused support. ERO noted warm and respectful relationships, well-understood school values, good quality teaching and a broad curriculum.

Achievement is a concern: a small majority of learners meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in reading and maths, and less than half do in writing, where results are not yet even across groups. A small majority attend regularly, behind the government’s 80% target, and attendance is not yet improving.

ERO’s priorities are to lift writing, especially for boys and Māori students, make teacher judgements more consistent, review school systems, and improve attendance. ERO also found attendance procedures did not match policy, which the board has since addressed.
