Rotorua Markets

Explore the Local Markets!

Rotorua has two regular markets that between them cover most of the week. The Kuirau Park Saturday Market is the city’s main weekly market — run by the Rotary Club of Rotorua North every Saturday morning, with dozens of stalls selling fresh produce, food, crafts, and more. The Rotorua Night Market runs on Thursday evenings in summer on Tutanekai Street, with food trucks, boutique stalls, and live music bringing the CBD to life. Both markets are family-friendly and free to enter.

Kuirau Park Saturday Market

The Kuirau Park Saturday Market is Rotorua’s longest-running weekly market and one of the best in the Bay of Plenty. Organised by the Rotary Club of Rotorua North, it draws around 3,000 shoppers each Saturday to browse 45–50 stalls spread across Kuirau Park — the city’s well-known geothermal reserve on Ranolf Street. Proceeds from stall fees go to local charities and community projects.

The stall mix covers the full range of a good market: fresh fruit and vegetables, hot food, coffee, baked goods, artisan products, plants, clothing, crafts, jewellery, and pre-loved items. Come before midday — stalls start closing around noon and the best picks go early. The market runs in all weather (unlike the Night Market), so a drizzly Saturday is not a reason to skip it. The park itself is worth exploring: the geothermal mud pools and steaming ground at Kuirau Park are visible from the market, and the playground suits younger children.

Opening hours are 7am to 1pm every Saturday except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and ANZAC Day. Entry is free. Parking is available on Ranolf Street and the surrounding streets.

Rotorua Night Market

The Rotorua Night Market runs on Thursday evenings through the summer season (October to February) along Tutanekai Street in Rotorua’s city centre, between Te Manawa and Haupapa Street. It is an evening street market with a social atmosphere — food trucks, boutique stalls, and live music run from 5pm to 9pm, giving locals and visitors an easy Thursday night out in the CBD.

The market is weather-dependent and operates in the warmer months only, so it is best to check social media before visiting to confirm it is on. The Night Market has also trialled different locations in recent seasons — including Kuirau Park — so checking the Rotorua Night Market Facebook page for the current location is worthwhile. Admission is free.
